Escapism has reached its full potential! From the first word, I entered into another world and often forgot that I was just reading a book! Dekker has a skill at character formation that other authors must envy. It is not uncommon for a reader to be relate to his characters; however, Priest's Graveyard was exceptional! Rather than relating to them, I felt as if I BECAME the character (hence why I often forgot I was reading). This book was impossible to put down! It made me cry on one page and then on the very next page I was laughing! As someone who has read the majority of Ted Dekker's books, I am used to a variety of emotions in 1 book, but Priest's Graveyard blew me away! For the first time, I couldn't dislike the killer! I think all of us can relate to Danny Hansen. Before the release, Dekker asked fans if they would kill someone if it would stop a rape; the question threw me off guard until now. I was forced to search myself once again (as I do with all of Dekker's books) since every time Danny killed, in my mind I was understanding and supportive. The references to law were enough to bring me to tears as I was reminded of how we were trapped by the law until we were rescued by Christ! Priest's Graveyard lived up to all of my expectations and then some! I will be recommending this book for a long time!

Hey, found you left a comment on one of my book reviews. Thanks for the info on Immanuel’s Veins, it’s on my reading listfor 2011. I think I’ll go read some of your reviews and see whatother books I can add to my list. I’m a sucker for a good story. Ihaven’t been reading much in the way of Christian fiction. Jesus isBF but Christian writers usually get quite dorky with theirreligious agenda. It’s better when it’s subtle and not awkward orpreachy. My preference is Supernatural/Paranormal with a side orderof Romance. If you have any more suggestion, feel free to hook meup! heatheraine.blogspot.com

God made us sexual beings, and He wants us to enjoy that part of our lives as much as any other. He sprinkled sex throughout the Bible to teach us the best way to have sex and help us avoid the wrong ways. I love Song of Solomon, its poetry and figurative writing. I love the love that comes through in that book. People all over the world, however, are afraid of pure, unadulterated (I used that word on purpose) love, and they don't understand it.

I love your review... Simply Amazing... Well, I have been searching through cyberspace, trying to find out what the book will actually look like, alas I have found your blog! Here is what I am still not certain about. When you describe the book, are you speaking from experience (i.e seeing one in person, holding it, owning one) or are your just sharing your perspective according to the images online? Amazon releases the book on 2/1/11 and I am thinking of ordering it... I have already read the Circle Series including Green, so I am most curious as to whether I should buy individual copies and add them to my "Dekker Collection" or if this new book will be super bulky etc. Love the fact of the leather strap etc... Let me know your ideas... I truly appreciate and value your opinion... again... GREAT REVIEW

P.S Val Pearson... Dekker is amazing in all his writings... don't ever question yourself about whether any book will or won't be a good read... because he will always blow your mind away... This certainly happened to me with Immanuel's Veins. I guess that just comes along with having the mind of Christ renewing you daily :)

Amazon releases the book on 2/1/11 and I am thinking of ordering it… I have already read the Circle Series including Green, so I am most curious as to whether I should buy individual copies and add them to my “Dekker Collection” or if this new book will be super bulky etc. Love the fact of the leather strap etc… Let me know your ideas… I truly appreciate and value your opinion… again… GREAT REVIEW

P.S Val Pearson… Dekker is amazing in all his writings… don’t ever question yourself about whether any book will or won’t be a good read… because he will always blow your mind away… This certainly happened to me with Immanuel’s Veins. I guess that just comes along with having the mind of Christ renewing you daily

Hey, found you left a comment on one of my book reviews.
Thanks for the info on Immanuel's Veins, it's on my reading list
for 2011. I think I'll go read some of your reviews and see what
other books I can add to my list. I'm a sucker for a good story. I
haven't been reading much in the way of Christian fiction. Jesus is
BF but Christian writers usually get quite dorky with their
religious agenda. It's better when it's subtle and not awkward or
preachy. My preference is Supernatural/Paranormal with a side order
of Romance. If you have any more suggestion, feel free to hook me
up! heatheraine.blogspot.com

Song of Solomon contained more graphic details than
anything in Immanuel's Veins. It is ridiculous that the book was
banned. One thing I loved about the book is how real the two female
characters were. Girls who have recklessly abandoned themselves in
the search for love. One who already experienced the results of
that lifestyle, now jaded. The other still living as if she were
invincible, soon to face reality. These girls are very real, even
if extreme.

The first Ted Dekker book I read was House, which I read
because I shared the book with my favorite author, Frank E.
Peretti. Since then I have plowed through dozens of Dekker books.
Today, in fact, I finished Immanuel's Veins, which was an amazing
addition, and, despite claims, highly tied into the circle, books
of history, and paradise books. *spoiler alert* While the idea of
coming Full Circle in Green was amazing. Ted left us without hope.
It seemed that Thomas was damned to circle in eternity, forever
losing those he loved. There was no sign that he could change it,
or break free. And there was really no hope for his son. So I am
happy that he wrote an alternate ending now. It seems that the
original ending could be the beginning, while the new could be a
closing to the series, the light at the end of the tunnel.

Excellent review! I posted a link to it on my site for my readers to read.

I haven’t read a lot of Ted Dekker before and I would have to say that Immanuel’s Veins was the best book that I didn’t like.

The writing is really quite superb: descriptive language, active plot, interesting characters all worked together. It was just all the lust, blood, and even more blood that just smothered me.

I wrote a review of this book on my own blog here:
